Bilton Infant School also receives additional funds for our school for those pupils identified as in receipt of FSM. We use this funding to target valuable support for pupils. More information about how we use this funding is available here:
If a pupil is eligible for FSM, they remain entitled to a free lunch during Covid-19. Where pupils are isolating due to Covid-19 parents/carers should contact the school to make arrangements to collect a deli bag from school.
The kitchen staff are happy to cater for individual dietary requirements. If your child has a recognised food allergy for which they are seen by a specialist and they require adjustments to our menu, please ask the office and we can arrange a meeting with our cook and / or Educaterers.
Please ensure the school office is also informed of any dietary requirements/allergies and subsequent changes that take place.
In order to safeguard children with food allergies the following are actively discouraged in children's lunchboxes:
nuts kiwi fruit
Snacks
Children are eligible for FREE fruit or vegetable snacks each day. That provides 1 of their 5 A Day portions, and helps to increase awareness of the importance of eating fruit and vegetables. Depending on the season, there's a choice.
Drinking
Children are actively encouraged to bring a water bottle into school each day to encourage regular drinking throughout the day. They are encouraged to drink from it throughout the day. Please ensure this has water in it at the start of each day. We will top it up throughout the day if required.
Water is always available at lunchtimes. A choice of squash or milk is available for those taking a school meal.
Please do not send in fizzy drinks.
Milk
Register your child for school milk on the link below. Every child is entitled to FREE school milk until they are 5 years old.
If your child is over 5 they are entitled to subsidized milk.
Your children will start to gain all the nutritional benefits from a daily serving of chilled milk in the classroom.
