Try and encourage your child to write for different purposes at home, e.g. birthday cards, postcards, emails, shopping list.   All these types of writing are purposeful and meaningful to the children.

As part of our phonics homework children in Key Stage 1 are expected to practise spelling their phonic words, phonic sentences and tricky words.  There are also some writing based activities on the topic homework sheets.
