Opal Play

"Children learn best through play."

We, as a school, firmly believe that children need to both learn to play and learn through play.

We have completed the OPAL Primary Programme, which is all about Outdoor Play and Learning. This approach supports our aims to ensure children have as much opportunity to play and learn through that play as possible.

We have seen significant changes at our school since adopting this approach and the development of the children's creativity and independence has been notable, as well as making so much more use of our amazing grounds.

The programme also encourages children to think about everyday items and how they can be used in creative play, meaning they are becoming great little recyclers, looking for things in school and at home that would add to their play experiences.

Here is our Opal Play Charter ('rules'):

This academic year, 2026-2027, we are having monthly 'Stay and Opal Plays'. You are welcome to come along and play. Bring siblings, friends and family!
